Book II: The Rabbi
Part Five–Messiah
Most Beloved David, my friend and fellow follower of Jesus, my story ends here for now. I hope you have enjoyed it.
As you know, the real story of Jesus begins, not with his birth, but rather with his reawakening from death. For the real story, the important one, David, is what he has accomplished for all of us.
Someday every one of us will conquer death, too.
After Jesus’ reawakening from death, he walked our earth again for a time. He set an example, by his life during this time, of what we may ourselves be like. And he proved to everyone who came into contact with him that he was really alive again.
I would like to tell you this new story, and also explain how we, his closest friends, began the larger Christian friendships: I would like to tell you the history of our early church. This history is filled both with the great works of Jesus himself, the Christ, and with the great evils that befell us and also other Hebrews in the revolution at Jerusalem.
It is to this new story that I now turn my attention, for you. You ask more questions than ever in your most recent letters! I promise I will send the news of these more recent events, complete with details, to you as soon as I have completed them. In the meantime, do not hesitate to send me your questions. I know that you still have doubts about many matters. Did you not know that doubting is good, as long as we seek what is truly real?
Be with God, my beloved friend: may the Father and Mother God watch over you; may the Spirit come to you and inform you; and may Jesus Christ meet you in your heart.
With all good will and peace to you,
John
