Directions to Hamline University Theater 11-04

BASIC DIRECTIONS FROM IHCC AREA TO HAMLINE:

  1. Take I-94 to Snelling Ave. (about halfway between Minneapolis and St. Paul).

  2. At the Snelling Ave. exit, turn north.  (From St. Paul, turn right.  From Mpls., turn left.)

  3. Go about 1 mile north on Snelling to Hewitt Ave. Hamline is on the right.

  4. Go one more block north on Snelling to Taylor, which is one way.

  5. Turn right (east) on Taylor; go past "Klas Center" (on your left).

  6. Turn right (south) at 1st chance--park free in "Lot B" (ignore warnings).

  7. Walk back by Taylor to Simley Theater on your left, across the street from the Klas Center. Enter Simley Theater.

  8. If you’re lost, call the box office, (651) 523-2905.

BASIC DIRECTIONS FOR RETURNING:

  1. Meet in your driving groups inside the theater. Go to parking lot using Taylor or Hewitt.

  2. From parking, go south into the Univ. ½ block to Hewitt Ave. (not to Taylor—it’s one way).

  3. From the parking lot, turn right (west) on Hewitt.  Go to the stoplight and turn left (south) on Snelling Ave.

  4. Take Snelling Ave. south about 1 mile to I-94.

  5. Return home—toward St. Paul or Mpls.—as you came.

MORE DETAILED DIRECTIONS FROM IHCC AREA TO HAMLINE THEATER:

  1. From almost anywhere, go to I-94 and then the Snelling Ave. exit, halfway between Mpls. & St. Paul.

  2. If you are coming from St. Paul, the Snelling exit is well beyond (west of) the downtown, and after (west of) the Lexington Ave. exit.  Take the Snelling exit and turn right (north) onto Snelling.

  3. If you are coming from Minneapolis, the Snelling exit is after (east of) the river, the huge S-curve, and the Cretin Ave. exit; take the Snelling exit and turn left (north) onto Snelling.
    ----------

  4. Continue on Snelling past/through University Avenue about 9-10 blocks (about 1 mile).

  5. Hamline University's corner sign is on the right at Snelling and Hewitt.

  6. Go one more block north on Snelling to Taylor.  Turn right on Taylor, which is one way. (If you go across the long bridge on Snelling or all the way to the state fairgrounds, you’ve gone too far.)

  7. On Taylor; go past the brightly lit, window-filled Klas Center on your left; the Anne Simley Theatre is on the right. Go all the way to the first intersection.

  8. Turn right (south) at this first intersection.  Then almost immediately turn left into "Lot B" parking, where you can park free. If you have arrived at a time when the "Lot B" signs say parking is still restricted, you may ignore these signs safely--almost everyone going to the theater parks in this lot free without permission. (If you get there early, parking should still be good.  If not, you may have to park in the neighborhood, a block or two away.  It’s a very safe neighborhood.)

  9. Then walk back west by either Taylor or Hewitt to the Anne Simley Theatre.  The theater building is across the street from the front of the Klas Center.

  10. If you’re lost, call the box office, (651) 523-2905.  It should be open ½ hr. or more before the show.

 MORE DETAILED DIRECTIONS FOR RETURNING:

  1. Meet in your driving groups inside the theater.  Return to the parking lot by walking east on Taylor or Hewitt.  From parking, go south ½ block to Hewitt.  Do not go back to Taylor because it’s one way.

  2. When you get to Hewitt, turn right (west). Drive on Hewitt to the first stoplight, which is Snelling.

  3. At the stoplight, to return to I-94, turn left (south) onto Snelling Ave.

  4. Take Snelling Ave. south about 1 mile to I-94 (which comes two blocks after University Avenue).

  5. Take I-94, either east (left) toward downtown St. Paul, or west (right) toward Minneapolis.

  6. Return the same way you used to find I-94.

For maps, look up “Hamline University.” Or use the street intersection of “Snelling” and “Taylor” in St. Paul
